Here’s a document about a self-help way to help with a hiatal hernia (and heartburn) that has benefited many patients (passed onto me by Michael Turk, L.Ac.):

Other general recommendations for GERD/heartburn:
1) Take digestive enzymes with every meal and/or with symptoms of heartburn.
2) Or take a teaspoon of aluminum-free baking soda (bicarbonate of soda). This is neutralize the overabundance of stomach acid. Great for alkalinizing the body in any case.
3) Another great herbal remedy for this is a traditional Chinese herbal formula known as ‘Curing Pills‘ since it cures all digestive ailments (good for nausea/vomiting, indigestion, even some types of diarrhea): take 2 with meals or with symptoms.
